Mission: Nurture principled grassroots politicians with moral courage and imagination, to make democracy work for every citizen

Our Why: During the Indian independence movement, our founding mothers and fathers gifted the country an independent future. More than seven decades later, democracy is working not for all, but only a few. As we reflect, one of the many reasons is the dearth of principled leadership in public service. Today, India needs its best hearts and heads to serve. ISD is a non partisan organization, with the mission to nurture principled political leaders with moral courage and imagination to achieve sarvodaya (upliftment of all).

Our How: We conduct short term and long term political leadership programs to build skills and moral compass to serve through clean politics at local level. Our students, aged 20-35 years, will go on to become grassroots politicians at village, district, city level (sarpanches and municipal corporators) to begin with. Three foundations of our programs:
